In the annals of contemporary legal scholarship, Prof. (Dr.) Maruthi T R stands as a towering figure renowned for his profound contributions to International Law and legal academia. Born Shimoga District and bred in the culturally rich city of Mysore, India, his journey into the realms of law began with a Bachelor of Laws (L.L.B.) from Kuvempu University in 1998, marking the genesis of a distinguished career marked by scholarly achievements and unwavering dedication. Driven by an insatiable thirst for knowledge, Prof. Maruthi pursued his MA and LL.M. at the esteemed Faculty of Law, University of Mysore, in 2001. His academic odyssey culminated in a Ph.D. in 2007, where his doctoral thesis titled "Legal Regime of the Seabed: A Critical Study" illuminated new dimensions in international legal frameworks.

Prof. Maruthi's academic trajectory is punctuated by a prolific array of scholarly accomplishments and leadership roles. Currently serving as Professor of Law, Chairman, and Dean at the Department of Studies in Law, University of Mysore, his influence extends far beyond the confines of academia. His expertise spans diverse facets of law, encompassing International Human Rights, Environmental Law, International Law, International Humanitarian Law ,  Private International Law, International Economic Law , United Nation's System, Law of Sea, Air and Space Law, Intellectual Property Rights, and beyond. Beyond his role as an academician, Prof. Maruthi is a stalwart in shaping legal education and being pioneer of Model United Nations Conferences in the University of Mysore. His stewardship includes membership in prestigious committees and councils, such as the Academic Council, Syndicate, Statute Committees, Board of Studies, Selection Committees and many more  at the University of Mysore, where his insights and foresight have helped sculpt the future of legal scholarship.

A testament to his global impact, Prof. Maruthi has lent his expertise to international bodies such as the United Nations Commissioner for Refugees and the International Committee of the Red Cross, engaging in pivotal dialogues on human rights, environmental preservation and crisis management.

As a mentor and academic guide, Prof. Maruthi has overseen the completion of 19 Ph. D. theses, each contributing significantly to the evolution of legal thought. His commitment to nurturing the next generation of legal luminaries is underscored by his role in adjudicating numerous theses and supervising aspiring scholars in their research endeavours.
